THIS MONTH’S FEATURED ARTIST
VIG MAYOL @vigmayol

Vig Mayol is an Argentine-born mixed-media artist based in Florida. Her work explores the human figure’s connection to nature, blending abstraction with figuration. Recently, she has focused on figures submerged in water, using reflections to depict inner consciousness.

Mayol studied Visual Arts in Buenos Aires and teaches at the Sarasota Art Museum. Her work is represented by several galleries and has been exhibited across the U.S. and Argentina. Notable highlights include a solo show at State of the Arts Gallery, collaborations with Serena & Lily, and illustrating a book cover for Penguin Random House. She lives in Sarasota with her family.

Meet our March artist and poets at Arts & Central in Sarasota, Florida! Join us in the courtyard on Thursday, March 13th, from 5-6 PM for a casual event with complimentary wine, appetizers, and poetry readings. Celebrate the vibrant Sarasota art scene with us!

“After many years of traditional training in oil painting, photography, design, and computer studies, interspersed with bartending and a variety of other day jobs, I began working as an illustrator for major publishing houses, including Random House, Simon & Schuster, Ballantine Books, and Bantam Books. My work includes covers for several Agatha Christie series, the Goosebumps young adult series by R.L. Stine, and the Victoria Thompson Murder Mystery series, among many others.

At the age of 28, I was selected to participate in the NASA and United States Air Force Art Programs.

My original oil paintings for these programs are displayed in the Deputy Director’s office at the Kennedy Space Center, the Pentagon, and the National Aviation Museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

My mural work includes Sarasota Heroes, a 20′ x 24′ piece in Sarasota, commissioned in 2020 by a joint venture between Sarasota Magazine and the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County to honor the county’s healthcare workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 battle.

In 2021, I had the honor of being recognized as a Fellow of The Hermitage Artist Retreat in Englewood, Florida”

This past weekend, we had the honor of hosting a special event at the restaurant with the incredible Stephanie Boswell @stephanie.boswell She flew in to create two exclusive desserts for Valentine’s weekend, Shell and Coral, and they were nothing short of edible masterpieces.

Stephanie is widely recognized as one of the top pastry chefs in the country and a familiar face on the Food Network.
